On a golden evening at Toronto’s stunning Woodbine Beach, located near East York, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Nicole, John, and their two lively daughters, Laura and Paige. This family is full of playful energy and a deep connection, which made every moment behind the camera a joy to capture. As fellow outdoor lovers and canoe campers, they’re a family after my own heart, and it was great to see their adventurous spirit shine through.
We began our session along the boardwalk, where Laura showed off some serious posing skills, and Paige—affectionately nicknamed “Rampaige”—kept everyone smiling with her endless energy and mischievous spirit. The changing leaves framed the scene perfectly as the soft backlighting of golden hour started to filter through the trees. It was one of those magical times when the light dances just right, bringing warmth and glow to every shot.
One of the highlights was recreating a beautiful memory from Nicole’s maternity shoot while pregnant with Paige. Nicole had brought along the same tin-can-and-string phone they used back then, capturing Laura “talking” to her sister in the womb. Watching the girls now, a little older but still so connected, made this moment even more special.

As the sun began to set, we wrapped up the session with some tickles, hugs, and goofing around on a blanket by the beach. Families like this, who embrace both the fun and tender moments, make my job feel less like work and more like storytelling.
