Real moments in a favorite neighborhood.

When Gina reached out to book a fall family photo session, she knew exactly where she wanted to go, right in the heart of their own neighborhood. We planned a laid-back evening walking through the streets and parks of East York, stopping at some of her family’s favorite places along the way.

We actually started the session with a near miss — we arrived at Red Rocket Coffee only to find out we had missed closing by five minutes. Darn! We laughed it off and kept strolling down the Danforth, where the boys got to pick out pumpkins for Halloween. It was the perfect seasonal start — a little tradition captured in real-time, with everyone bundled up and laughing under the golden fall light. These candid moments made for some of my favorite images from the session.

From there, we made our way over to Monarch Park, one of their go-to weekend hangout spots. The energy shifted as the kids ran around and played while we captured some cozy family portraits on the grass. We even stopped for a photo under the train overpass — that perfect blend of park and city that makes East York such a great place to raise a family.

As the sun dipped lower, we wandered back to the Danforth for a few final portraits in front of The Wren, one of Gina and her husband’s favorite local spots. The warm evening light, the buzz of the neighborhood, and the relaxed, end-of-day vibe made these last photos feel especially meaningful. This session felt like such a love letter to East York — a walk through the neighborhood that holds so many memories for this family. It’s always such a privilege to capture real life in places that matter.
