A Relaxed Toronto Fall Family Session at the Bluffs

A Relaxed Toronto Fall Family Session at the Bluffs

There’s always something special about fall at the Scarborough Bluffs that make the family photo sessions here feel extra special. Maybe it’s because I grew up in Scarborough and spent lots of time exploring here with my brother. Maybe it’s the crisp air, colourful leaves, and the golden light. It never disappoints!

Starting Simple

We kicked off the session with some simple photos looking at the camera, I find this is what people expect and let’s them get comfortable with the camera and my direction. Great shots to showcase the smiles for the family! We quickly move on to focusing photos with more connection, hugging, joking and laughing together.

Leaves and Laughs

Of course, no fall family photo session is complete without a leaf toss! This is a great way to get the kids on board and having fun for the photo session being more play than serious-photoshoot-business. The boys went for it and mom and dad joined in. Contagious giggles and smiles quickly followed!

Snuggles Under the Trees

After all the running and leaf-throwing, the family settled into the leaves together. The boys leaned against mom and dad, and everyone just soaked in the moment. These slower pauses always balance the playful energy and give families images that feel peaceful and true.

We paused among the trees, surrounded by all those autumn colors. The boys tucked in close to their parents, who couldn’t help but beam. These are the photos that go beyond “family portraits” — they’re the little moments that show connection.

Exploring the Shoreline

As the sun dipped lower, we wandered down to the shoreline. The boys walked together climbing and running on the big rocks on the shoreline their silhouettes glowing in the golden sunlight. I remember doing the same with my brother during my childhood. The bluffs gives, fall colours, cliffs and lakeside views all in one spot.

Sunset Stroll

We ended the session walking back to the cars in the golden light of the setting sun with the bluffs off in the distance making for the perfect ending to the relaxed evening.
