Family Photography’s Secret Weapon: The Blanket

Family Photography's Secret Weapon: The Blanket

Here’s the ONE Thing You Don’t Want to Forget on Your Family Photoshoot

Every seasoned mom knows the cardinal rule from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: Always carry a towel. But in the wild, wonderful galaxy of Toronto family photography, we tweak that rule slightly—always bring a blanket.
the blanket is a soggy-bum saver, instant snack station, emergency towel and more. The MVP for your family photo session.

The Ultimate Guide to Your Secret Weapon on a Family Photoshoot: The Blanket

Yes, a simple blanket. Your humble hero. A fuzzy swiss-army knife, your family photoshoot MVP. A blanket is oh so much more than a simple means to keep warm.

The Soggy-Bum Stopper: Seated photos bring out great real moments. But dealing with wet grass? No worries! It’s no match for your trusty blanket. Sit on it so those bottoms stay dry and clean leading to smiles all around.

Picnic Pad: Because snacks are non-negotiable and a hungry kid cooperates about as much as a cat at bath time. Blank = instant snack zone!

Snuggle Tool: Want genuine expressions from the kids, sneak up for some “blanket snuggles”. Cue adorable moments. Nothing like a ‘kid burrito’ if you want real smiles and laughter. No “school photo smile” here.

Emergency Towel: Wet slide? Damp bench? Blanket to the rescue! Your versatile blanket can dry off playground seats, slides, and swings, saving the day (and your family’s pants).

Silly Starter: Use it as a superhero cape, for peek-a-boo, the floor is lava and more to get your kids out of “boring photo shoot” into “fun playtime mode”.

Impromptu Change Room: Grass stain on the white dress? need a quick wardrobe swap? Privacy curtain engaged.

As a family photographer in Toronto, I know each session is an adventure. You’ll never know when you need a dry, clean seat, warmth, snuggling or something to spark a new game. The humble blanket, is your family photoshoot secret weapon. Never leave home with out it!

If your ready to turn your family photoshoot into a fun adventure, just say hi and I’ll walk you through how easy it is.

Family photography's secret weapon: The Blanket

“A towel, [The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy] says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.”
