Fall Family Photography at Scarborough Bluffs

Fall Family Photography at Scarborough Bluffs
A heartfelt autumn session by the lake
There’s something undeniably magical about fall family photography at Scarborough Bluffs. For me, it’s more than just a beautiful location—it’s a place full of memories. I grew up in Scarborough, and many of my childhood days were spent here with my mom and brother Phil, feeding ducks exploring the trails and even going for a quick splash in lake Ontario. So any time I get to photograph a family here, especially during the golden hues of autumn, it feels incredibly special.
📸 Starting with Warm, Traditional Fall Family Portraits
I often begin sessions with a few more traditional portraits—something timeless and relaxed to help everyone warm up in front of the camera. They’re perfect for sharing beautiful smiles with friends or popping into holiday cards.

❤️ Candid Family Photography at Scarborough Bluffs
From the moment I met Anna and her crew, I could tell this was going to be a joyful session. Their connection was obvious, the kind of warm, tight-knit love that shines through every laugh and little moment. And once everyone feels at ease, that’s when the real magic happens. The kids led the way down a winding path, golden light filtering through the trees. The older sister guided her younger brothers, and soon they were all giggling and dancing—bringing out those candid, personality-filled moments I love.

🌅 Golden Hour Fall Photos at Scarborough Bluffs
We timed this shoot for golden hour, and wow! Scarborough Bluffs showed off. The light was soft and golden, spilling through the maples and oaks, lighting up the fall foliage around us in vibrant oranges and deep reds. We made our way down to the beach, letting the kids skip rocks, explore the shoreline, and just soak in the view. There’s something so grounding about being near the water—especially when you can see the dramatic cliffs behind you glowing in the last light of day.

🍁 Fun Fall Moments: Tossing Leaves and Upside-down Smiles
These were hands-down my favorite moments of the session. The kids had so much fun just being themselves—whether it was the big sister playfully flipping her brothers upside down or the boys tossing a flurry of leaves into the air. That kind of energy is what makes a session unforgettable.

These fun, chaotic moments always make for the most memorable photos—and if you’re worried about how to keep your kids engaged, check out my article on how to make family photos fun for kids. These kids are proof it works.
🌄 Sunset at the Bluffs: The Perfect Ending
We ended the session as the sun slipped just below the horizon, casting soft light over the water and cliffs. It was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful—a perfect close to an afternoon full of laughter and connection.

It’s moments like this—where the light, the place, and the people all align—that remind me why I love being a Toronto family photographer.
