Autumn Family Photography at Todmorden Mills
A hidden gem in east toronto
There is something magical about autumn family photography at Todmorden Mills, Fall colors? check, crisp air? check, glowing light? check. In fact itâs one of my favorite spots for fall sessions and has made my list for Torontoâs best family photo locations. Recently I had the pleasure of working with Clem, Stan and their 3 lovely children during a beautiful fall afternoon at this historic Toronto Location.Â
From Worries to Joyful Memories
Like many parents I work with, Clem was a bit nervous about how her youngest child, A free-spirited 4 year old, would behave during the photo session. Would he cooperate? Would he stay interested? But as we wandering the wooded trails, climbed on picnic benches and fooled around on the grass if became clear that kids just love space to be themselves. Despite his best efforts to ânot cooperateâ we ended up with some of the most genuine heartwarming moments with authentic smiles and boy does his personality shine through in the photos! As for Clemâs worries? They disappeared completely as she later shared in her Google review:
Itâs moments like these that always remind me what an honor it is to be able to capture real family moments that my clients will love forever!Â
Iâve also shared some of my top tricks for making family photos fun for kids to turn your photo session into an adventure.
A Walk Through Autumnâs Beauty
We began the family photo session by strolling along Todmorden Millsâ iconic cobble brick path, which was framed by the lovely mature forest just beginning its fall color change. We followed a trail deeper into the forest which created a lovely backdrop for some candid moments together. The kids loved exploring the trail but after the sun started peaking out from behind the clouds, we made our way back to an open field to make use of the beautiful golden light.
The session finished with some fun hanging out together on a blanket in the last rays of the sun. These intimate photos are always a great way to show family connection with authentic smiles and a relaxed candid vibe.Â
